The festival aims at creating opportunities for Ottawa’s artistic youth to exhibit their talent. Youth Infringement is a unique festival in its genre combining the creative collectiveness of youth working together, with a Mentorship and Workshop program. Held successfully over the past few years, writers and directors are paired up with a professional writer and/or theatre professional as a personal mentor to give feedback and advice for the work they take on. In April we also host free workshops open to all participants, on various aspects of theatre. The festival objective is to expose youth to arts by creating opportunities for experience in the artistic discipline the participant would like to pursue. Youth get the chance to either try an aspect of art they'd never tried, or to build up more knowledge and experience in a field they are passionate about. Everything, from the producing to booking musicians and a music show fundraiser, to designing posters and programs, writing scripts and acting and doing the sound and lights for plays. Participants get to create a whole festival as collaboration with other artistic youth from all around Ottawa.
