Access at YIF

Access Mission Statement

  • We are committed to making our festival as accessible as possible, accommodating access needs for both participants and patrons alike.

  • This means ensuring that performance venues are physically accessible whenever possible, including seat reservations, early venue access, and complimentary companion seating where required. It also means a continuing commitment to open access participation policies, with participants facing no prerequisites and no cost to entry.

  • Resource constraints mean that there are currently some services outside of our reach, but we are always striving to better serve our community and lessen these barriers. Above all, this commitment means inviting feedback from our community.

Format of document request policy

  • Participants and patrons may request that festival documents be reformatted to meet individual needs at no extra cost. This includes document size, font, complexity, etc.

  • These requests will be completed as quickly as possible, and can be submitted to the following email address: info@youthinfringement.ca

Notice of disruption policy

  • A notice will be posted on our social media accounts when usual services are disrupted, including event cancellations, rescheduling, etc.. These notices will be posted as early as reasonably possible.

  • If our usual email response times are very prolonged, this will be indicated via a brief reply.

Accessibility at Arts Court

  • The Youth Infringement Festival (YIF) is held at Arts Court.

  • Arts Court is wheelchair/scooter accessible via elevator, and the theatre itself has space to accommodate wheelchair/scooter seating. YIF is able to arrange reserved seating and early access for those who require it. Requests can be directed to: info@youthinfringement.ca.

  • Additional information on Arts Court wheelchair accessibility, parking, bike racks, bussing, and LRT access may be found at: https://artscourt.ca/visitor-info-en.

Late Arrival and Re-Entry

  • Patrons arriving late or requiring re-entry will be accommodated at the discretion of Festival Producers, the General Manager, and the Technical Director, so as to minimize disturbances to the performance. We ask that you respect this decision upon late arrival or re-entry.

Support Persons and Service Animals

  • YIF accommodates support persons and service animals.

Refunds

  • Refunds are available should a patron discover that the show is not accessible to them. Refund requests can be directed to: info@youthinfringement.ca.

Any concerns or complaints can be addressed via our anonymous reporting form, or via: board@youthinfringement.ca.

Description of how feedback/complaints are processed

  • Feedback and complaints are welcomed from participants, patrons, and the general public. They are confidential, securely stored, and can be submitted anonymously.

  • Feedback and complaints are submitted to the Chairperson of the Board of Directors via our anonymous reporting form, or to board@youthinfringement.ca. Initially, submitted complaints are only visible to this Chairperson and a Safety Officer (HR). From there, the Chairperson and the Safety Officer will determine a best course of action, only bringing in other board members as needed. We will do our best to resolve all complaints in a timely manner.

Please be aware that our Access Points are always evolving. Check back here for updates.
